CASLA LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The CASLA Leadership Academy is specially designed professional development for current charter and autonomous school leaders. Mentors of the CASLA program participants (anticipated to be their school leaders in the 2011-2012 school year) will be invited on a monthly basis to participate in professional development expressly designed for charter and autonomous school leadership. Each meeting will focus on a particular “hot topic”. We anticipate major speakers as presenters as well as local experts. The content will parallel that of the CASLA program for participants so that the school leader and CASLA program participant can better work together. However, topics that are important to participants will also be explored. Besides mentors for CASLA program participants, leaders from the CASLA partner schools, former charter and autonomous school leaders, and other vital members of this special community will be invited to participate in this program.

The purpose of the CASLA Leadership Academy is to increase the networking and communication opportunities within the charter and autonomous schools milieu. The expectation is that members of this academy will increase their leadership skills and hence be better able to support their teachers’ efficacy and increase student achievement. Each participant will receive a stipend for participation in the CASLA Leadership Academy.
